The Inspiration Thread. (more pics less words)
07-13-2010 at 01:38 PM | Roobeh
Seen as this whole site revolves around cool cars, it has seemed a little lacking in cool cars recently. so, I say we start a thread for inspiration. let's have more pics than chatting here. of course you can express opinions etc but let's focus on cars for this'n. pics needn't be really big for resourses but more for ideas.

I'll get the ball rolling.

Artist Interview with Davids
07-04-2010 at 05:37 PM | vvomble
Artist interview with: Davids

In our latest interview we bring you an interview with not only an artist but also the new owner of carchops.com.

Hey Davids, Thank you for participating. First question is which country are you from?
- G'day, I'm from Melbourne, Australia!

How did you begin chopping cars?
- I first started out chopping cars when I was trying to decide what I wanted my first car to look like after I'd done it up.

When did you Begin chopping?
- I started probably 4-5 years ago, but for the most part of that time I hadn't done it very often at all. It's only more recently that I've started back up again.

What programs do you use for your chops?
- I use Photoshop CS4, though I think I'll probably be buying the upgrade for CS5 soon!

How long do chops usually take you?
- It depends on the quality of the chop, the last few chops I've done have been interior chops and those have taken 16+ hours in some cases. I'm no expert though, so I'm still learning new tips and tricks every day!

What's your favorite Car?
- Ah haha! I have way too many favourites to list! Though some of the ones at the top of the list would be Lamborghini Murcielago and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

What is your favorite Chop? (Of Yours)
- My favourite chop thus far is actually an interior chop, it wasn't an overly complex chop but I think it turned out well.

What are your plans for the future of the site?
- In the long run I'm looking to hopefully get the community more active and bring some new members along, in the more immediate future there's a new layout that will be being used, I'll be building up the resources section to hopefully attract some more beginners and I'll also be giving some of the monthly competitions cash prizes or items as prizes!

Any extra comments?
- Feel free to PM me any comments or suggestions you have, I'm more than welcome to hear them! Otherwise feel free to PM me even if you just want a chat

IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE NEW OWNER FEEL FREE TO ASK THEM HERE DAVIDS IS A REALLY APPROACHABLE GUY DETERMINED TO MAKE THIS SITE A SUCCESS AGAIN

Chopping Resources
07-03-2010 at 02:35 AM | davids
Hey everyone,

I'm trying to put together a larger set of resources for Carchops.com so newbies can have access to some basic textures/meshes/rims/etc.

At the current point, I've started out on some meshes as can be seen at the following page:
Resources: Meshes

If anyone has anything they would like for me to add to the meshes page, or any other resources you think will be useful for beginners (or even veteran choppers), let me know in this thread and I'll try and put something together for it.
